Sod Installation in Rotonda West, FL

Back-to-back hurricane seasons left the yard a patchwork of dead grass and bare soil on a Rotonda West canal lot. The homeowner needed to meet HOA section compliance. We removed the damaged sod, corrected two low spots that were holding post-storm water (compounded by the canal water table), and installed fresh Floratam throughout. Canal-side areas received extra grading attention to prevent water from pooling against the sod edge.

Chinch bug damage wiped out three large sections of the front yard on a Rotonda West lot. The HOA section issued a compliance notice. We removed the dead material, treated the soil, sourced matching Floratam, and completed the patch in a single day. Canal proximity was assessed — patches were not in a low-lying area that would hold water, so grading correction was not needed.

Builder finished the home but left the lot with rough-graded fill on a Rotonda West canal lot. The canal-side grade needed particular attention — builder fill tends to be dumped rather than graded, and on a canal lot the slope toward or away from the canal determines whether water pools at the foundation. We brought the grade to positive drainage away from the structure, corrected canal-side low spots, and installed Floratam across the full lot.

The backyard held standing water for days after each rain — and on this canal lot, the saturation started before rain even fell because the canal kept the water table high. The rear swale had filled in over time. We installed a French drain through the lowest area, re-cut the swale on the canal side, corrected the grade to flow toward it, and installed new sod over the entire backyard.
